A remarkable debut about race and color wars, relationships with family dynamics and sexual identity. A very relatable coming of age novel in a polarizing world.

WINNER OF THE PULITZER PRIZE FOR LITERATURE 2023
Imagine you want to write about the opioid epidemic in Appalachia, a place you are from and have loved your whole life. Then imagine you are on a book tour in England and stay in Charles Dickens’s house, Bleak House, and you sit at his desk and lay your head down and ask the master writer, how? And you receive the answer, “let the orphan tell the story.”
And with that, Demon Copperhead, a retelling of David Copperfield, is born.
This is the origin story of Barbara Kingsolver's newest book, Demon Copperhead, who was born and raised in Appalachia.WINNER OF THE PULITZER PRIZE FOR LITERATURE 2023

Enjoy every word of this beautiful memoir. Allow the life lessons of the bees and those of her precious grandfather to enter your heart just like Meredith May did -- and then shared with all of us.

A stunning literary debut by Nathan Harris. The Sweetness of Water tells the story of two families around the close of the Civil War in the South. How does a fixed society change? One family at a time. An Oprah Winfrey Book Club pick.

A bookend to Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go, Klara and the Sun is the optimistic story of an Artificial Friend and her quest to protect her human friend, Josie. Choices, crimes, and circumstances beyond one's control sum up the tragic story of Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Absorbed in Tess's plight as an 1800's woman, I was shocked by the similarities to women in the modern age.

A good standalone novel by the author of the Dublin Murder Squad mysteries. A bit long in parts, but French does a great job of circling back to all plot lines. The main character, Toby, is an unreliable narrator, so there were plenty of shoes dropping, not just the other one. Smart kids with special abilities, being used and abused by powerful adults. A specialty of King's is in how he'll use his storytelling ability to flip the scenario so that the kids have the upper hand and the adults lose power.
